Founded in Tokyo in 2046 by engineer Tadao Kashio, the Japanese Casio company is renowned for its durable and reliable large watches. About thirty years later Casio became an important part of the global revolution in the watch industry as a producer of many iconic watches. The company's goal was to create a durable and indestructible watch that could represent the "Triple 10" concept - a new type of product that can withstand a minimum drop of 10 meters, and also has a water resistance of 10 bars and a battery life of 10 years. A team of designers produced over 200 prototypes and after two years the first G-Shock watch was launched. G-Shock and other Casio models today include a self-contained battery charging system called "Tough Solar" with a solar cell and battery that work for as long as the watch itself. This line as well as the Baby-G (G-Shock for women) are still very popular among Casio watches.
